Team Success...What a Crock

As I suspected, Rasheed Wallace is going to be an All-Star. I don't give a shit what anyone says, 15 ppg and 6.5 rebounds/game do not an All-Star make. It's great that Detroit is doing so well as a team (or is it, since Pistons fans are some of the lowest life forms on earth, barely human in fact). But to give one team 1/3 of the All-Star roster is ridiculous. I want someone to explain to Michael Redd, Gilbert Arenas and Dwight Howard why their seasons are not All-Star worthy. And if I hear any more of this "they're young, they'll get another shot" bull shit, I'm gonna scream.

More importantly, if we're going to give teams with outstanding records more All-Stars, why do the Pistons get 4 players while the Spurs (2) and Mavs (1) only get 3 combined? Both San Antonio and Dallas have records nearly identical to Detroit, so WTF? Why does Rasheed get in, while Josh Howard (with identical stats) doesn't get in? I know the Eastern Conference doesn't have as many good players as the West, but there were plenty of people to pick over Wallace. Why should Rasheed Wallace be rewarded for being on a good team? The only reason he even ended up in Detroit is because he was a cancer on every other team that he played on (see Portland and Atlanta (for one game)). So we're rewarding him for being a malcontent until he got put on a contender. I'm getting more pissed off the more I type.

If any of you can honestly say with a straight face that Dwight Howard is less deserving than Rasheed Wallace of an All-Star bid, I'd first laugh at you, then punch you in the face. Is it Howard's fault he got drafted by a shitty franchise? Does Michael Redd have to be traded for Richard Hamilton to make an All-Star team?

Great, the Pistons are really good this year, give them 3 guys in the game that deserve to be there (Ben Wallace, Hamilton, Billups), but don't get stupid about this. And the worst part is, the coaches picked the subs, so I can't even blame these picks on (presumably) a lack of knowledge.

So unless the league decides to put a minimum winning percentage on All-Star selections, I never want to see something like this happen again. And if it does come down to being based on team success, you mother fuckers better put Manu Ginobli, Jason Terry and Josh Howard on the team.
